EVERY NEW BABY COMES WITH THEIR OWN UNIQUE PERSONALITY, CHALLENGES, AND JOYS. PARENTS AS WELL DEVELOP THEIR OWN METHODS AND STYLES THAT WORK BEST FOR THEM. AS YOUR DOULA, MY JOB IS TO OFFER NON-JUDGMENTAL SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE.

MEET COURTNEY GOMEZ

Courtney grew up in small town Virginia before attending Longwood University. After graduating Cum Laude with her BSBA, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to begin her life with her husband, Webster. They got married in 2009 and moved to Wilmington.  With the immense support of her family, Courtney opened Seaside Doula, LLC in the fall of 2015.

As a mother of three, two by birth and one by love, she knows the importance of a strong support system. When her youngest, Emma, was born, her passion for postpartum care was reawakened. Her friends and family began turning to her for guidance in many different aspects of newborn life; from breastfeeding to baby-wearing, soothing a fussy baby, to how to take care of mom. It was then that she realized her passion and knowledge in these areas shone through to everyone she came in contact with. Her dream is to work towards enhancing the postpartum period for each new mother.   In the Fall of 2017, Courtney added birth support to her services as a way to continue making the most impact in the community. Seaside Doula is present to support the birthing parent in the most beautiful transformation; reminding them of their intense and amazing raw power.

“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.”
— Osho

Courtney with Seaside Doula helped me and my wife through so much during and after the pregnancy. She was very helpful when it came to breastfeeding, soothing and caring for our baby. There were times, even late at night, that we weren’t sure that what we were experiencing was normal. The first person we would call is Seaside Doula. She made us feel more assured that we were doing okay, even if it felt like we weren’t. I am so happy we can count on her to help us out with our first baby girl.

“I don’t care what kind of birth you have. A home birth, scheduled Cesarean, epidural hospital birth, or if you birth alone in the woods next to a baby deer. I care that you had options, that you were supported in your choices, and that you were respected.”
